A California native, Matthew Morrison made his Broadway debut as a replacement in the ensemble of the musical, Footloose and appeared as the replacement for Phantom in the 2000 revival of The Rocky Horror Show, before getting his first starring and guitar-playing role as Link Larkin in the 2002 musical adaptation of John Waters’ film, Hairspray.
In 2005, Morrison returned to Broadway to play the role of Fabrizio Naccarelli in Craig Lucas and Adam Guettel’s musical adaptation of The Light in the Piazza, a novel by Elizabeth Spencer. Morrison was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for his performance.
