Though he has frequently appeared in film and television – from the likes of Robocop 2 to Star Trek: Voyager and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit – Jeff McCarthy has often worked on Broadway, debuting as the replacement for Nikos in the 1983 revival of Zorba. In 1986, he played Big Bob Freelander in Marvin Hamlisch and Howard Ashman’s short-lived musical, Smile.
After appearing as a replacement in Beauty and the Beast and the on-going revival of Chicago, Jeff McCarthy played Terry Connor in the 1997 musical Side Show by Bill Russell and Henry Krieger. He received his first nomination for a Broadway award for his portrayal of Officer Lockstock in the 2001 hit musical comedy Urinetown.
Jeff McCarthy most recently appeared as Dubhdara in the 2007 musical The Pirate Queen by Alain Boublil, Claude-Michel Schönberg and Richard Maltby, Jr.
