National Theatre’s ‘Follies’ in London will be Live Broadcast in Movie Theaters on 11/16!
Few shows in the history of the musical theatre have attained the cult status enjoyed by Follies. The Stephen Sondheim-James Goldman extravaganza – about a class reunion of former chorines of the legendary Weismann Follies (a metaphor for the Ziegfeld revues) – premiered on April 4, 1971 at the Winter Garden and closed a year later after having lost its entire investment of $800,000.
The recent London production featuring Imelda Stunton will be broadcast live in the movie theaters across the world on November 16, 2017.Watch Stephen Sondheim discuss Follies and stream the 1985 Concert recording featuring Barbara Cook, Betty Comden and many others below!
