Roger Bart is an actor and singer who made his Broadway debut in 1987 as the stand-in for Tom Sawyer in Big River. Most widely known for his role as the murderous pharmacist on Desperate Housewives, Bart provided the singing voice for several Disney animations.
But since 1997, he has spent a great deal of time on the Broadway stage, starring first in the short-lived King David and then appearing as the valet to F. Murray Abraham’s Hermocrates in Triumph of Love. In 1999, Bart won a Tony® for his portrayal of Snoopy in the revival of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.
In 2001, Roger Bart earned a Tony Award® nomination for his portrayal of Carmen Ghia in Mel Brooks’s musical version of The Producers, a role he later played in the film, opposite Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick. More recently, Bart appeared with Lane in the Lincoln Center production of The Frogs and starred as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein in Mel Brooks’s musical adaptation of Young Frankenstein.
