Best known to the general public for her on-going role as crime scene technician Jessica Reed on Law and Order, Liz Larsen has appeared in six Broadway musicals, performed frequently off Broadway, and has sung in numerous studio cast recordings of old Broadway musicals by the likes of George Gershwin. She made her Broadway debut as Chava in the 1981 revival of Fiddler on the Roof and later played the roles of Eleanor and Bizarbara in Barry Keating’s musical, Starmites, in 1989.
In 1992, Larsen played Cleo in the Goodspeed Opera House revival production of the neglected Frank Loesser musical/operetta, The Most Happy Fella, and garnered both a Tony® and a Drama Desk nomination for best featured actress in a musical when the show came to Broadway. Three years later, she appeared in the revival of Adler and Ross’s Damn Yankees as Cynthia Thorpe.
In 2000, Liz Larsen was the replacement for Columbia in the revival of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. She was also the replacement for Velma von Tussle in the musical adaptation of John Waters’ Hairspray.
Most notable among her work off Broadway is her 1998 performance in the musical drama, A New Brain, by William Finn. Staged at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater at Lincoln Center in New York, the cast included Penny Fuller, Malcolm Gets, and Kristin Chenoweth.
